Snowpocalypse: Part Deux- Day Deux

There's not much to report here on Snowday Day 2. It turns out the my dogs are so over this snow shizz therefore they aren't very good at keeping me entertained. After much contemplating (roughly 3 mintues), I decided that I would venture out on the roads to see what was going on. Sad to report- not much. Here's a run down of what I've done so far on the Snowpocalypse: Part Deux- Day Deux.

I didn't get a great "before" shot of Tooterbug (my car), but it was pretty much one giant popsicle on wheels. The snow/ice was about 3 inches deep so it took me around 30-45 minutes to defrost and chisel away all of the ice covering Tooterbug.

So I'm finally on the roads. It's very quiet out, hardly any traffic. Quite enjoyable actually.

{Hello there random man walking in the middle of a (usually very busy) major road.}

Reasons I left my house:
1. WINE
2. To cure my cabin fever
3. To pick up some Valentine's goodies for my coworkers.
So I headed over to the devil's store aka Wal-Mart. They had to be open, right?
WRONG.

Since I had the inside scoop from my Mom that BI-LO was open, I headed there. I swear to you I could hear baby angels singing when I stepped foot on this aisle.
{I picked up this 1.5L bottle of wine for $6.99- regularly priced $12.99!}

 I also stopped by Walgreens to pick up a few things and then headed back home to crack open my wine!

Lucky me, I found a great spot to place my glass of wine while I wondered around my property snapping pictures.

Oh! And let me not forget about this. A Facebook pal of mine invited me to like a page where people are using random objects to measure the depth of snow. Here is my submission.

Other than eating my weight in food, it has been a pretty uneventful the past 2 days. I am going to work on the Valentine's Day goodies for my coworkers- while sipping on my wine- so that I can have an actual thrifty-related post for y'all tomorrow.
See you then!

Snowpocalypse: Part Deux

Well she did it again! Mother Nature has brought the rain, sleet, hail, and snow for a second time in 2 weeks. Which is unheard of around these here parts. I know some of you Northerners are probably wondering what the big deal is. Having lived in South Carolina my whole life, it is a HUGE deal to us. Its rare that we get snow in the first place, but to have it twice in a year- you better shut your mouth!
I wasn't nearly as well prepared this time around- There isn't a drop of wine in the house. Whatever shall a gal do?

Anywho, here's a few snapshots of today's snow day shenanigans.

{Foxy Darling & Senor Jorge are not as excited about the snow this time.}

I just got word from work that we will be closed tomorrow as well. Now I am really screwed without my wine!

Music and Lyrics

For some strange reason the song 'Afternoon Delight' is stuck in my head. But instead of the cheesy, yet oh so lovely lyrics by The Starland Vocal Band, I have changed them to my own:

♪ ♪ Gonna find my bargains, gonna hold them tight
gonna grab some thrift store delight ♪ ♪

I'm not really sure why. And it really has nothing to do with this particular post.
On another note, for those of you who have pets... Do your pets ever give you the stink eye when they are laying on you but you need to move because you are uncomfortable yet your moving clearly is a bother to them and their comfort level? Yeah. That just happened to me as I am writing this post.
Anywho.

Here are the great items I found on my recent Goodwill trip Friday evening.
 I hope you enjoy!

 {Fairly new black satin peep toe pumps: $5.75}
 {Small Express purse: $4.25}
{Yellow bead necklace: $2.25}
 {Silver earrings: 75¢}
 {Watch- in need of a new battery: $6.25}
{Owl ring; $2.25}
 {Cute polka dot button up: $4.25}
{Various shirts for myself and others: $1 each}

Snow Day Shenanigans

Well we finally got our snow! It started late last night shortly after 9pm. And man was I excited! I am such a kid when it comes to snow. I absolutely love it!
Being the smart gal I am, I made some preparations for the Snowpacolypse of 2014. I bought 2 bottles of wine, some Havarti cheese, pita crackers and spinach dip. I also bought some inexpensive canvases should the wine spark my creativity.
Luckily it did!

I love the colors of this SUPER expensive Ikat print throw pillow. I thought it would be cool to replicate the colors onto a canvas. So I busted a sweet freestyle and went to town.
The inspiration: This $230 pillow

I apologize for the crappy cell phone quality of these photos. I am no Picasso, but I think the finished product looks pretty darn good!

8x10 canvas: $1.69
acrylic paint in various colors: already owned
paint brushes in various sizes: gifted

Total cost of this art project: $1.69

And here's a few shots from our snow day!
{Snow. Yipee!}
